Location: Craven Arms, Shropshire
Salary: A GBP 45,000 : A GBP 50,000 + Benefits
Working Pattern: Full-time, Onsite 5 Days per Week
Design Engineer: Structural Design
Are you an experienced Design Engineer with a passion for structural design within the construction industry? Do you enjoy taking projects from concept through to manufacture and installation while working closely with clients, architects, and production teams?
We are seeking a Design Engineer to join a growing and innovative business in Craven Arms. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong CAD and 3D modelling experience to play a key role in developing structural products and systems used across a variety of construction projects.
Working within a collaborative engineering environment, you will be responsible for creating practical, cost-effective designs that meet customer requirements while ensuring manufacturability, quality, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop structural products and systems from concept through to production and installation.
- Produce detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and drawing packs.
- Create 3D models using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Generate and maintain Engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Design for manufacture, ensuring products can be efficiently produced and installed.
- Produce product cost estimates and support quotation activities.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, suppliers, and internal teams throughout the design process.
- Support prototype testing, validation, and continuous product improvement initiatives.
- Troubleshoot design and technical issues during development and production.
- Maintain engineering documentation, revision control, and design records.
- Keep up to date with relevant construction standards, materials, and engineering technologies.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Product Design, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Design Engineer or Product Development Engineer position within construction, building products, structural systems, or a similar engineering environment.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles and structural design.
- Experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams.

Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
- Experience with DriveWorks configurator development.
- Experience using PDM systems and engineering change control processes.
- Understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Experience working on structural or construction-related products and systems.
