Design Engineer

Location: Burscough, Lancashire
Salary: £40,000 - £49,000 + Company Car or £4,730 Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a market-leading specialist contractor delivering complex geotechnical, foundation, and ground engineering solutions across the UK.

Known for tackling technically demanding schemes, they combine engineering excellence with cutting-edge construction techniques to deliver complex projects. The Design Engineer will be working alongside experienced design professionals, you will be involved throughout both the tender and project lifecycle, producing innovative and practical engineering solutions.

Design Engineer Job Overview

  • Designing foundation piles, retaining structures, and ground improvement solutions.
  • Designing ground anchors and soil nail systems.
  • Producing efficient designs for both tender and live projects.
  • Providing technical support to construction teams throughout project delivery.
  • Preparing engineering calculations, reports, and design documentation.
  • Working closely with project, estimating, and site teams to develop cost-effective engineering solutions.
  • Contributing towards innovation and continuous improvement within the design department.

Design Engineer Job Requirements

  • Qualification: Degree qualified in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience/Interest: Experience, or a genuine interest, in foundations and ground engineering.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of piling, retaining structures, grouting, soil mixing, anchors, or soil nails would be advantageous.
  • Software: Experience using software such as PLAXIS, WALLAP, the Oasys Suite, or AutoCAD is desirable, although training will be provided.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
