Are you a Design Engineer or Structural Designer with a strong background in steelwork design, fabrication or installation?
We’re working with a growing UK engineering business delivering mechanical, structural and engineering solutions across the industrial, water treatment, energy and manufacturing sectors. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a Design Engineer – Structural Designer to join their design team in Stone, Staffordshire.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality structural steelwork models and drawings, working closely with fabrication and installation teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing accurate 3D models using Autodesk Advance Steel
- Producing 2D fabrication and general arrangement drawings
- Designing steel structures including platforms, staircases and support frames
- Carrying out 3D point cloud surveys using in-house scanning equipment
- Attending UK sites to carry out scanning and gather project information
- Providing technical design support to fabrication and installation teams
- Interpreting engineering specifications and producing compliant, cost-effective designs
- Creating detailed component and assembly drawings
- Resolving technical design issues and supporting continuous design improvements

About You
We’re looking for someone with a solid background in steelwork. You should have:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in steelwork design, fabrication or installation
- Proven experience designing steel structures such as platforms, staircases and support frames
- HNC or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Strong mechanical and structural engineering knowledge
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings
- Experience with Autodesk Advance Steel is highly desirable
- Familiarity with STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, RAM Connection or RAM Elements would be advantageous
- A detail-oriented and technically capable approach to design
