SpAItial Design Engineer
SpAItial is pioneering Physically-grounded World Models, a new AI paradigm designed to generate and reason about the appearance and physics of real and imagined environments. We are moving beyond 2D pixels to build models that natively understand the geometry of our world, redefining how industries from robotics and AR/VR to gaming and cinema create and interact with 3D environments.
We are looking for our first Design Engineer to own the design system and product experience across SpAItial's web and mobile surfaces. You will translate the company brand into reusable product patterns, clear interaction models, and production-quality front-end experiences that you can help design and ship.
You will work closely with product engineers to design how people create, explore, and edit 3D worlds across web and mobile. You own product design, interaction models, reusable components, prototypes, and production front-end implementation. This is a hands-on role for someone equally comfortable maintaining a design system, resolving the details of a complex product flow, and shipping high-quality interfaces.
We care far more about the quality and range of your work than where you have worked. Show us design systems you have built, web and mobile products you have shipped, and examples of how your designs held together from concept through implementation.
Responsibilities
- Brand and design system: Translate SpAItial's brand into practical rules for typography, colour, iconography, layout, components, and interaction across product and company surfaces.
- Design infrastructure: Own shared Figma libraries, components, variables, templates, and documentation so teams can build consistent experiences without redesigning common patterns.
- Web product design: Design responsive experiences for world creation, the 3D viewer, editing, onboarding, accounts, and pricing or upgrade surfaces. Work with product engineers from early concepts through polished implementation.
- Mobile product design: Design clear capture, upload, generation, and viewing journeys for mobile devices, accounting for camera workflows, permissions, progress states, failure recovery, and platform conventions.
- Spatial interaction: Define how people move through and manipulate generated 3D worlds, including camera behaviour, navigation, selection, editing, and transitions. These interaction patterns are not established yet.
- Website and company surfaces: Design the marketing site, careers pages, technical documentation, and reusable presentation templates as extensions of the same system used in the product.
- Front-end implementation: Turn designs and prototypes into production-quality interfaces. Build reusable components, implement responsive behaviour and interaction states, and collaborate with product engineers through review and release.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Strong interaction and product-design fundamentals across responsive web and native mobile experiences, including accessibility and platform conventions.
- Fluency in Figma, including components, variables, prototyping, and design systems that other people can use.
- Able to write and ship production front-end code using React and TypeScript, or a comparable modern web stack, with strong attention to accessibility, responsiveness, performance, and maintainability.
