Mechanical Design Engineer position based in Sheffield, supporting the design, analysis, testing and documentation of specialist engineered products.

Client Details

My client is a well-established and highly respected engineering manufacturer based in Sheffield. They supply specialist engineered solutions to customers across the UK and international markets. Operating across a bespoke and standard range of products, they are renowned for quality, innovation and technical excellence.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to strengthen their engineering capability.

Description

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a close-knit technical team, taking ownership of product design, engineering calculations, technical documentation and compliance activities.

You will be responsible for:

  • Producing and reviewing mechanical designs, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Carrying out engineering calculations relating to stress, load paths and component performance.
  • Supporting product testing, inspections and compliance activities.
  • Preparing customer-facing technical reports, certificates and documentation packs.
  • Working with internal teams to coordinate design, manufacturing and site-based activities.
  • Maintaining accurate engineering records and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Providing technical support for installation and commissioning projects as required.

I am looking for a degree-qualified Mechanical Design Engineer who has experience using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Solid Edge or similar.

You will ideally possess:

  • Strong understanding of engineering calculations and mechanical design principles.
  • Knowledge of materials selection, structural components and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working to European industry standards and engineering best practice.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to support site-based project teams as required.
