Design Engineer Waste Management Equipment
Salary: £32,500 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Robertson Recruitment are recruiting an experienced Design Engineer to join a growing waste management company specialising in the design and manufacture of engineering equipment and systems.
This varied role will involve producing detailed engineering drawings, supporting customer projects and working closely with the sales, design and workshop teams to turn concepts into practical, manufacturable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate 2D and 3D engineering drawings using Solid Edge.
- Create assembly drawings, including detailed exploded views.
- Produce and interpret hydraulic schematics.
- Prepare and maintain bills of materials using CIM50.
- Develop designs that meet customer, manufacturing and operational requirements.
- Visit customer sites to take measurements and gather technical information.
- Communicate with customers regarding specifications, designs and project requirements.
- Work closely with the sales team to develop suitable technical solutions.
- Liaise with workshop engineers to ensure designs can be manufactured and assembled effectively.
- Support design modifications and resolve technical issues during production.
- Attend exhibitions and industry events when required.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation and project records.

Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a mechanical or engineering design position.
- Good working knowledge of Solid Edge or comparable 3D CAD software.
- Experience producing 2D drawings, 3D models and assembly drawings.
- Ability to produce or understand hydraulic schematics.
- Experience creating bills of materials.
- CIM50 experience would be advantageous.
- Competent with Microsoft Office.
- Confident customer communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable visiting and measuring customer sites.
- Able to work effectively with salespeople, designers and workshop-based engineers.
- Strong attention to detail with a practical understanding of manufacturing.
