Infrastructure Planning & Design Specialist

Circa £400 per day outside IR35

A global Telecommunications client is looking for an Infrastructure Planning & Design Specialist to join their Connectivity & Infrastructure team, supporting the planning, design and engineering governance of infrastructure build activities across their network estate. This is a hands-on design role, responsible for producing high-quality, build-ready designs and ensuring that infrastructure solutions align with engineering standards, capacity requirements, architectural principles and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce detailed infrastructure designs, drawings and design packs in line with engineering standards and project requirements.
• Apply established design frameworks, technical standards and engineering principles across infrastructure domains including network, fibre, power and data centre environments.
• Support the end-to-end design lifecycle, ensuring designs meet architectural, regulatory, security and operational requirements.
• Review site-specific requirements including power, cooling, fibre routing, space, site constraints and environmental considerations.
• Validate survey information, CAD drawings and technical documentation to ensure designs are accurate, complete and build-ready.
• Provide input into capacity planning, including site utilisation, power availability and space optimisation.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate technical and stakeholder feedback.
• Contribute to design QA/QC, audits and peer reviews, identifying issues and ensuring high standards of design quality.
• Maintain accurate documentation and version control in accordance with design governance processes.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design and delivery challenges.
• Support cost-effective design decisions and provide technical input into project cost estimates.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes, standards and documentation.
