Watson-Marlow Fluid Technology Solutions is part of Spirax Group, a FTSE100 and FTSE4Good multi-national industrial engineering Group with expertise in the control and management of steam, electric thermal solutions, peristaltic pumping and associated fluid technologies.

When you join us, you will be integrated into a cooperative and encouraging team, participate in challenging yet critical work, and experience ongoing growth opportunities to help you achieve your full potential. Visit our website to learn more.

Join our Operational Engineering (OE) team as an Engineer, where you will take ownership of delivering engineering solutions that maintain, improve, and enhance the Watson-Marlow product range across its lifecycle.

This is a hands-on role where you will work independently on defined engineering problems and work packages, applying your skills across mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical systems. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver practical, high-quality solutions that support product performance, manufacturability, and compliance.

You will play a key role in supporting engineering change, resolving product and manufacturing challenges, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across our global product portfolio. This role offers exposure to real-world engineering challenges across design, testing, manufacturing, and problem solving, with clear responsibility and impact.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Technical Project Delivery: Take ownership of defined work packages within technical projects, delivering solutions that maintain, improve, and enhance Watson-Marlow products.
  • Engineering Change (ECR/ECO): Deliver engineering changes in line with formal change control processes, ensuring appropriate risk assessment and compliance with ISO 9001 frameworks.
  • Documentation, Scheduling & Reporting: Produce and maintain clear technical documentation, reports, and updates in line with internal systems and quality requirements.
  • Concept & Design Development: Contribute to concept generation, evaluate engineering solutions, and support the development of designs that are both technically robust and manufacturable.
  • Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical Engineering Support: Contribute to the development, integration, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical systems, depending on your background and experience.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Analyse product requirements, support prototype builds, and define and execute verification and validation testing activities.
  • Test Data Analysis: Interpret test and performance data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Manufacturing Engagement: Work closely with production and supply teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned to real production constraints.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Participate in structured problem solving (e.g. 8D), identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Risk Management: Support product and process risk assessment activities (FMEA / PFMEA), ensuring risks are understood and mitigated.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance product performance, improve quality, reduce waste, and increase efficiency.
  • Health & Safety: Follow Watson-Marlow health and safety systems and ensure safe working practices at all times.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including Quality, Supply Chain, Production, and Customer Support to deliver effective engineering outcomes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
