About The Role

Based in Manchester, this full-time Design Engineer – Sprinklers role supports the delivery of sprinkler systems across significant construction projects. The position involves creating working drawings, performing hydraulic calculations, and preparing material schedules. Coordination with clients, consultants, and contractors is central, alongside monitoring design programmes to meet project timelines. Attendance at site and design meetings is required, as is supporting procurement and issuing certification. A proven background in sprinkler design engineering is essential, with strong knowledge of relevant standards. The salary is £55,000 to £60,000 per annum, complemented by a car allowance, 25 days of holiday, and a wider benefits package.

Our client is looking to recruit an experienced Sprinkler Design Engineer to work out of their Manchester office, supporting the design and delivery of sprinkler systems across a variety of major construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and coordinate sprinkler systems with clients, consultants, contractors, and other trades.
  • Produce working drawings, hydraulic calculations, and material schedules.
  • Monitor design programmes to ensure alignment with project timelines and specifications.
  • Attend site and design meetings as required.
  • Support procurement activities and issue completion documentation and certification.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards, codes, and company procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven sprinkler design engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of LPC BS EN 12845 and Factory Mutual Standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit experience advantageous.
  • Experience with hydraulic calculation software (Canute preferred).
  • Knowledge of NFPA standards desirable.
  • LPCB qualifications and a construction/engineering-related HND or Degree are advantageous.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
