Job Title

Sapien are looking for a Design Engineer for our client based near Castle Vale. This opportunity is to work for an established manufacturer in bespoke commercial equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects within a collaborative, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design commercial refrigeration equipment for the retail sector using SolidWorks 3D CAD.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical documentation to support manufacturing and product changes.
  • Develop sheet metal components and assemblies with a focus on manufacturability, quality, and cost.
  • Work closely with UK and overseas suppliers to resolve technical issues, support production, and implement design improvements.
  • Liaise with manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and other engineering teams throughout the product development process.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, taking designs from concept through to production.
  • Ensure designs meet customer requirements, manufacturing constraints, and relevant industry standards.
  • Assist with product testing, validation, and compliance activities, providing engineering support for development and laboratory projects as required.

Key Experience

  • Proven experience using SolidWorks 3D CAD within a manufacturing or product design environment.
  • Strong sheet metal design experience and the ability to produce detailed manufacturing drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail with engineering documentation and technical drawings.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Good project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience within commercial refrigeration or a related manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Basic understanding of refrigeration systems and associated engineering principles is advantageous.
