Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding

At Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding (CCS) we work in a project-based agile way, building empowered project teams through talented colleagues that are organised into Chapters. Our Chapters are made up of colleagues with similar skills, knowledge and expertise in a given specialism who collaborate on talent development, knowledge sharing and problem solving.

We believe in the power of diversity to drive success, valuing a blend of backgrounds, experiences and skills. If you're passionate about engineering and shipbuilding, let's talk. We're not just looking for qualifications on paper; we're searching for someone who can bring fresh ideas, strong technical capability and a collaborative approach to our team, as well as our ships.

Role Overview

CCS is responsible for delivering the next generation of innovative, sustainable cruise ships across the Carnival Corporation portfolio of brands. Working in a highly collaborative matrix environment, CCS brings together expertise from across disciplines, brands, shipyards and partners to shape the future of cruising.

We are seeking a capable and collaborative Design Engineer to support in the delivery of engineering workstreams across our shipbuilding programmes. You will drive the assurance of the programme being delivered to specification, through ensuring the development of compliant engineering designs, drawings and specifications, while supporting technical documentation, classification submissions and approval processes.

Working closely with internal teams, shipyards, suppliers and brand stakeholders, you will be a key partner to the Project Manager, helping to drive the project forward and maintain momentum across technical and delivery activities. You will bring the right people together, facilitate joined-up discussions between the shipyard, technical teams and the brand, and help ensure that decisions, actions and dependencies are clearly understood and progressed. Through this coordination, you will help ensure design solutions meet safety, regulatory, operational and brand-specific requirements and contribute to the safe and successful delivery of new cruise ships.

Key Accountabilities

  • Key partner to the Project Manager, providing proactive engineering coordination, clear technical input and practical support to help maintain project pace and delivery focus.
  • Deliver engineering solutions, ensuring the specifications and design solutions meet project and brand requirements.
  • Support classification and regulatory compliance, ensuring designs align with CCS contractual specifications, relevant classification society requirements and international maritime regulations.
  • Coordinate design activity across programmes, collaborating with internal departments, shipyards, suppliers and brand technical teams to ensure design solutions are integrated and consistently applied.
  • Drive joined-up project discussions, connecting the shipyard, technical teams and brand stakeholders so that interfaces, decisions, actions and dependencies are aligned and progressed in a timely manner.
  • Produce and review engineering documentation, including engineering decisions, calculations, reports and technical information required to support design validation, certification and project delivery.
  • Apply sound engineering judgement, helping to resolve design conflicts, compliance gaps and technical risks while maintaining design integrity.
  • Contribute to design reviews and risk assessments, identifying opportunities to improve safety, efficiency and technical outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and lessons learned, supporting greater standardisation across vessels, brands and shipbuilding programmes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
