For our Data Centre Segment regional team we are looking for a Design & Engineering Lead (Electrical).
Reporting to the EMEA Director of Engineering - Data Centre Segment, this role is responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of innovative solutions that support customers across the data centre market.
The position requires a strategic mindset, strong engineering leadership, and the ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and the successful delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions. The role works closely with customers, sales teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support complex projects and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
We are looking for a strong customer-facing professional with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of building credibility with customers, influencing technical decisions, and presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences. The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging directly with customers, understanding their needs, and translating them into effective engineering solutions.
Location: UK (remote).
Travel: Up to 30% travel across EMEA, including customer visits and regular travel to our Slough office.
Responsibilities:
- Act as Design Manager on data centre projects, leading the electrical design scope from concept, through detailed design, to construction support and closeout.
- Remain hands on in electrical design, providing technical leadership and ownership of critical design aspects for mission critical facilities.
- Lead and coordinate electrical engineers and SMEs as part of a multidisciplinary design team on both large and small projects.
- Manage design deliverables, resources, schedules, and quality across assigned projects.
- Provide expert technical guidance and mentoring to the DC Design & Engineering team.
- Develop, implement, and uphold electrical design quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Review and approve electrical designs, calculations, reports, and specifications, undertaking and facilitating formal peer reviews.
- Act as a client facing technical lead, attending and contributing to client, contractor, and Eaton internal meetings.
- Lead project teams during value engineering, optioneering, and technical decision making stages.
- Participate in and lead project site visits to monitor, review, and resolve electrical installation and commissioning matters.
- Collaborate with project management, commercial, and construction teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Qualifications:
- BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering.
- 5-8 years of experience in electrical design, ideally within power distribution, industrial, commercial, critical infrastructure, or related environments.
- Experience designing and delivering electrical engineering solutions, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, transformers, UPS systems, and standby generation.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering best practices.
- Experience with value engineering and implementing innovative, cost-effective solutions.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is an advantage, but not essential.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong customer-facing experience, with the ability to build relationships, understand customer needs, and present technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to think strategically and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and support engineering processes.
