About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Design Interface Manager to join the design team working on the HS2 Old Oak Common Station Project.
You will manage design interfaces between the station assets and rail systems, working collaboratively with the client, lead designer, subcontractors and rail system contractors. The role will support the effective coordination and timely resolution of complex technical interfaces.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects and play an important role in coordinating the design interfaces required for the successful delivery of Old Oak Common Station.
What you'll be doing
- Building strong working relationships with HS2, designers, subcontractors and rail system contractors.
- Coordinating design interfaces and ensuring established interface management procedures are followed.
- Supporting design, package and construction interface managers.
- Managing RFIs relating to interfaces between station assets and rail systems.
- Preparing and responding to contractual communications through CEMAR.
- Coordinating drawings, models and technical information using Bentley ALIM/Eb.
- Defining milestones and helping to resolve design interfaces in line with programme priorities.
- Chairing interface meetings and ensuring actions, risks and decisions are clearly recorded.
- Maintaining interface trackers and reporting on progress.
- Supporting the preparation and distribution of Interface Control Documents.
Who we're looking for
You Will Have
- A degree in Engineering or a similar discipline.
- Chartered status or be working towards Chartership.
- Design Management or Engineering Management experience gained on a complex transport infrastructure project.
- Experience working through RIBA Stages 4 and 5, or GRIP Stages 5 and 6.
- Experience resolving technical interfaces with rail systems or third-party contractors.
- Experience using Bentley ALIM/Eb, or a similar document and model management system.
- Experience using CEMAR, or a similar contractual communication system.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative and positive approach to working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams.

Desirable
- Previous CEM or CRE appointments.
- Experience exchanging models with third-party designers through a common data environment.
- Experience supporting systems integration activities.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
- A CSCS or PTS card.
- Additional professional recognition or a management qualification.
