Financial advice has been too expensive, exclusive, and out of reach for too long. At Clove, we’re combining trusted advisers with technology to close the advice gap and help people make smarter decisions with their money. As one of our first hires, you’ll own how advice — and everything around it — looks, works, and feels.
You’ll own Clove’s design direction end-to-end, across our Workplace offering today and our regulated Advice product as it launches. That spans the full surface: consumer experiences, adviser tools, internal systems, and the brand that ties them together. You’ll take ambiguous problems from a vague idea to a shipped, polished experience — working closely with the founders and engineering to solve real problems from first principles.
We’re a small, senior team, and design sits at the centre of how we scale. Great product and platform design is how we move an adviser:client model beyond the traditional 1:100 toward 1:1000+ — making expert advice feel personal even as it reaches far more people.
In a world where the “can we build it?” bar keeps dropping, the real differentiator is how the product makes someone feel - confident, in control, and cared for. For people who’ve never had access to advice before, that feeling is the product. It’s what turns a regulated, trust-sensitive service into something that feels like a no-brainer.

Your background
- Strong product design craft, with a track record of shipping high-quality, user-centred products.
- Product-minded: you define problems, make trade-offs, and connect design decisions to business outcomes.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and taking products from 0→1.
- High taste, and the ability to set a shared quality bar across the team.
- High ownership and autonomy: you take ambiguous problems from “vague” to “shipped”, and bring others along. There are no PMs here.
- You don’t settle for mediocrity. You push the quality bar and keep raising what “great” looks like.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience designing for trust-sensitive domains (fintech, health, identity), where clarity and correctness matter.
- Excited by AI-native tooling, and always finding ways to work faster and better with modern tools.
- 0→1 experience: you’ve taken a product from a blank page to something people love.
- Comfortable getting leverage from freelance or contract design support - giving direction, running feedback loops, and prioritising.
- Experience in an early-stage team where you set the patterns, not just follow them.

Your impact
- Set the product design direction and quality bar across web and the core customer journeys.
- Lead discovery and definition: turn ambiguous problems into clear outcomes, concepts, and shippable plans.
- Design the v1 “Advice as a Product” experience for people who haven’t had access to advice before — simple, trustworthy, and an obvious yes.
- Partner with engineering to ship quickly without compromising taste, creating lightweight systems and components where they help.
- Bring customer insight and a clear point of view to roadmap and GTM decisions — especially the Workplace and content → consultation → advice funnel.
