Design Manager

We’re looking for a Design Manager to join our Engineering team.

The Design Manager for a Standby business unit is responsible for leading and overseeing the design and implementation of Standby projects. This role involves managing a team of engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver Standby Projects. The Design Manager will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution of Standby Projects, meeting client requirements, and staying abreast of industry trends and regulations.

You will be responsible for taking on the design and engineering from handover from sales to handover to Service. You will need to manage all aspects of the design via your team.

You and your team will work under the guidance of the Operations Director & Engineering Director, working closely with the sales and concept design team, pre-construction, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop designs to ensure we keep buildability and programme in focus
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, CAD/BIM and control system engineers to integrate various components into standby projects
  • Implement robust quality controls, right first-time submission. Reducing rework and delay due to status B & C documents
  • Implement, Assess and action identified design risk to EHS and longevity of the works
  • Monitor Design costs throughout the project lifecycle and identify opportunities for cost optimization
  • Manage the Design Phase of the project ensuring supply chain design meets the required standard and delivered on time
  • Experience managing an Engineering Team
  • Ideally worked in an energy background
