Design Manager
We are looking for a Design Manager to lead a small design and CAD team delivering bespoke sheet metal fabrication and architectural metalwork for construction projects.
Role Overview
You will take work from customer concept through detailed design to workshop manufacture. That includes overseeing drawings, flat-pattern development, bend allowances and production-ready CNC data, while remaining hands-on with complex designs. You will plan and check the team’s work, work closely with the workshop, advise customers on technical changes, and visit live construction sites to survey work and resolve engineering or installation issues.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee drawings, flat-pattern development, bend allowances, and production-ready CNC data
- Remain hands-on with complex designs
- Plan and check the team’s work
- Work closely with the workshop
- Advise customers on technical changes
- Visit live construction sites to survey work and resolve engineering or installation issues
Requirements
- Hands-on sheet metal fabrication or architectural metalwork design experience
- Strong Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD skills
- Experience leading a drawing office or CAD team
- Comfortable dealing directly with customers
- Experience working across both manufacturing and live construction sites
- Experience with Radan or similar CAM/nesting software and a CSCS card would be useful
