This is an exciting opportunity for a creative leader who is passionate about brand consistency, design excellence, and developing high-performing teams. You'll work closely with colleagues across Marketing, Digital, Bids, HR, and the wider business, ensuring our brand is brought to life through high-quality, engaging, and accessible creative solutions.
What will your role look like?
As Design Manager, you'll lead and develop our in-house design team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional creative work across a broad range of channels, including digital, social media, campaigns, reports, pitches and proposals, events, and internal communications.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business, you'll help translate creative briefs into effective design solutions that support business objectives, while continuously improving design processes, workflows, and resource planning to ensure an efficient and high-performing function.
Though this is a varied role, your key tasks will include:
- Leading, coaching, and developing our in-house design team to deliver high-quality creative work.
- Owning and evolving Hymans Robertson's visual brand guidelines, templates, and design systems.
- Driving the ongoing implementation and adoption of our brand identity across the business.
- Ensuring visual consistency and quality across all marketing, client, and internal communications materials.
- Managing workflow, prioritization, capacity planning, and resource allocation within the design team.
- Collaborating with teams across Marketing, Digital, Content, Bids, HR, and other business areas to deliver creative solutions that meet business objectives.
- Maintaining and developing design assets, templates, and toolkits to support business needs.
- Championing accessibility, inclusivity, and best practice across all design outputs.
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and implement tools, automation, and AI solutions that enhance efficiency.
- Managing external agencies, freelancers, and suppliers where additional design support is required.
To enjoy and succeed in the role, you will have:
- Significant experience working within an in-house design environment, ideally within professional or financial services.
- Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing creative teams.
- Experience supporting the implementation of a new or refreshed brand across multiple channels and audiences.
- Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience creating branded business documents and presentations.
- A portfolio demonstrating excellence across brand identity, digital and social content, reports, campaigns, and event collateral.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to confidently present and explain creative concepts.
- Strong organizational and workflow management skills, with experience of managing multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
- A collaborative mindset, high attention to detail, and a passion for delivering outstanding creative work.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
