About the Company

Our client is a growing specialist in modular healthcare construction, delivering high-quality off-site building solutions for hospitals and healthcare providers across the UK. Backed by a larger engineering group, they combine the agility of a lean business with the stability and resources of an established organisation.

Following continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Design Manager to support the Senior Design Manager while developing into a leadership position within the design team.

Role Overview: Design Manager

This is a hands-on design management role responsible for coordinating architectural, structural and M&E design throughout the lifecycle of modular healthcare projects.

Initially, you'll work closely with the Senior Design Manager, taking ownership of project delivery while gradually assuming greater responsibility for mentoring and managing the wider design team. The role offers an excellent blend of technical design, project coordination and people leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Design Manager with the delivery of multiple modular construction projects
  • Coordinate architectural, structural and M&E design information
  • Produce and review architectural and steelwork designs
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Building Control and planning requirements
  • Liaise with project delivery, commercial, procurement and wider design teams
  • Manage project design programmes and technical coordination
  • Mentor and develop members of the design team
  • Support the ongoing development of design processes and standards

Requirements

  • Strong background in architectural or technical building design
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design projects
  • Good knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Control and planning requirements
  • Proficient with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Previous experience leading projects, managing people or taking design lead responsibility
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Organised with strong technical attention to detail

Package

  • Salary: £65,000 - £70,000
  • 23 days annual leave (increasing to 25) plus bank holidays
