Design Manager

£40,000 - £45,000 DOE | Liverpool (Hybrid)

Fancy putting your creative stamp on an established retail business?

I’m working with an established Liverpool-based retailer that is looking for a Design Manager to take the lead on its in-house creative function.

This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced creative leader who wants genuine ownership, a team to develop and plenty of room to bring fresh ideas to the table.

The creative output is broad and varied, covering everything from campaigns and print through to digital, e-commerce, customer communications and photography. So, if you like variety and don't want to be doing the same thing every day, this could be right up your street. 👀

What will you be doing?

As Design Manager, you'll take ownership of the creative direction across the business, helping to make sure the brand looks consistent, engaging and commercially effective across every customer touchpoint.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing the in-house design team, setting priorities, supporting development and getting the best out of the people around you.
  • Owning creative direction across campaigns, print, digital, e-commerce, marketplace content and customer communications.
  • Bringing fresh creative ideas to campaigns and projects and helping to evolve the visual direction of the brand.
  • Reviewing creative work throughout the process and providing clear, constructive feedback.
  • Managing multiple projects, campaigns and deadlines while keeping quality high.
  • Working closely with Marketing, Buying and E-commerce to turn commercial briefs into creative work that connects with customers.
  • Leading seasonal photoshoots, from planning and briefing through to on-set creative direction and final image selection.
  • Managing external creative partners including photographers, studios, printers and production suppliers.
  • Improving creative processes and ways of working to make the team more efficient and consistent.
  • Managing creative production budgets and supplier relationships.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Experience working across both print and digital.

  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and external creative partners.
  • The ability to give honest, constructive feedback while keeping the team motivated.
