Design Manager – Civil Engineering | Leeds
Are you a confident people manager with a talent for building client relationships? We're looking for an experienced Design Manager with a strong civil engineering background to work in a head office position based in Leeds.
The company are a well established specialist civil engineering company with a strong reputation and consistently excellent client feedback.
The role
You'll support a growing portfolio of work on a framework, coordinating multiple high-volume reactive projects in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate temporary and permanent works design across earthworks, drainage and structures projects
- Interpret client remits and agree the scope of works before design progresses
- Brief sub-contract design consultants, obtain fee proposals and place orders based on competency, value and past performance
- Specify and monitor site and ground investigation works to inform the design
- Manage design production against the contract programme and report progress to the client and internally
- Technically review designers' deliverables to ensure they meet the client's remit, standards and regulations
- Represent the company at client progress meetings
- Support the construction team during planning and construction, including briefing engineers on the design and drawings

About you

- Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Building Engineering, Project Management or a similar subject
- Experience of civil engineering projects
- Experience of working in a team and coaching less experienced colleagues
- Strong MS Office skills and a full driving licence
- ICE or IStructE accreditation desirable
