Structural Design Manager
Permanent
South London
£55,000 - £75,000 + Annual Bonus + Pension + Healthcare
Based in South London, this privately owned Main Contractor is seeking to employ a Structural Design Manager on a permanent basis. As a business, they focus on refurbishment and cut and carve projects from £5m to £30m in construction value, all based in London and the South East.
They are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer (or existing Structural Design Manager) to manage the design of the projects, liaising with sub-contractors, design consultants, and internal clients to deliver the projects on time and to budget. This is not a design-focused role; it is a Project management/liaison role for someone coming from a Structural Engineering background.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
