A Design Manager working for a UK main contractor will take responsibility for managing and coordinating the design process on a major mixed-use construction project, comprising a new headquarters and affordable housing.

Responsibilities
- Leading design management across multiple disciplines from concept through to construction.
- Managing consultants, designers, and supply-chain partners, ensuring designs are coordinated and delivered to programme.
- Developing and managing design programmes, design deliverables, and information requirements.
- Overseeing BIM, CDE, and information management, including design coordination, clash detection, and document control.
- Coordinating planning, Building Control, CDM, and Building Safety Act requirements.
- Ensuring design decisions align with contractual, commercial, programme, and construction requirements.
- Supporting value engineering, technical reviews, constructability, and cost optimisation.
- Managing consultant appointments and innovations, including monitoring performance.
- Supporting sustainability and carbon objectives throughout the design process.
- Providing leadership to the design team while developing towards senior design management/leadership responsibilities.
