Design Manager

The Design Manager will ensure the timely delivery of coordinated, constructible, and compliant designs across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines in alignment with client requirements, regulatory standards, and project timelines.

Location: London, UK

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design process from concept through to construction, ensuring timely delivery of design packages.
  • Manage coordination between design consultants, internal engineering teams, subcontractors, and the client.
  • Oversee the integration of architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines, ensuring a fully coordinated and clash-free design.
  • Drive design reviews, value engineering, and constructability workshops.
  • Manage design changes and ensure impact assessments are communicated and implemented effectively.
  • Maintain design programme in alignment with the overall construction schedule and procurement strategy.
  • Ensure designs meet regulatory standards, local planning and building codes, and client specifications (e.g., Uptime Tier classification, BREEAM, LEED).
  • Support the procurement team with technical input on design scope, specifications, and tender documentation.
  • Work closely with BIM/VDC teams to ensure effective model management and design coordination.
  • Review and sign off on drawings, specifications, and technical submissions.
  • Facilitate communication between design and site teams to resolve technical issues promptly.
  • All other duties associated with this role.

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical), or Construction-related discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in design management or technical coordination roles.
  • Experience on data centre or other mission-critical / MEP-heavy projects is essential.
  • Familiarity with BIM processes and digital coordination platforms (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Solibri).
  • Excellent technical knowledge across multiple disciplines including CSA and MEP.
  • Experience managing consultant and subcontractor design deliverables.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within specification.
