Walker & Sloan are working with an outstanding specialist contractor to recruit an experienced Design Manager to join one of the UK's most significant live data centre developments.
Our client has built an exceptional reputation for delivering technically complex projects across the Data Centre, Defence and Energy sectors. With over 40 years of specialist expertise, they continue to deliver some of the country's most technically demanding schemes, combining engineering excellence with collaborative project delivery.
This opportunity will see you joining a flagship hyperscale data centre development in London, where you'll play a key role in managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion on one of the UK's landmark mission-critical projects.
The Role
As Design Manager, you'll be responsible for coordinating and managing design activities throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring design information is delivered on programme, technically compliant, commercially viable and fully aligned with construction activities.

Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and operational teams, you'll oversee design coordination, manage technical risk, drive value engineering initiatives and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Manager looking to further their career within a specialist contractor delivering complex, high-value construction projects.
About You
You'll have proven experience managing design delivery within a main contractor environment and be confident coordinating multidisciplinary design teams through both pre-construction and live project phases.
You'll possess a strong understanding of construction design, Building Regulations, CDM requirements and technical coordination, alongside the ability to balance programme, quality, commercial performance and buildability throughout the design process.

Ideally, you'll be degree qualified (or possess equivalent industry experience) and hold a relevant professional qualification through RIBA, CIOB, ICE or a similar institution. SMSTS and a CSCS Black Card are also preferred.
