Design Team Lead / Design Manager Role | Luxury Retail & Brand Design | East London
A luxury retail and hospitality studio is looking for a Design Team Lead / Design Manager to take on a hands-on leadership role, initially working closely with a premium in-house clothing brand client, with scope to work across other studio projects as capacity allows.
The Role
This is a genuinely hands-on leadership position, managing and delegating a design team across multiple projects while remaining actively involved in the design work yourself. You’ll act as the key client liaison, working closely with senior associates and directors, and will guide the team through all stages of the design process, from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and delegate work across a design team working on multiple projects
- Act as the primary client liaison, building strong relationships with in-house teams
- Work hands-on through all stages of design, from concept through to execution
- Craft bespoke interior designs, including furniture, lighting and textiles
- Confidently present space plans, layouts and creative concepts
- Manage FF&E budgets and schedules across projects
- Lead the team in producing detailed design packages
- Support seamless final installations through hands-on organisation
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level designers
- Manage multiple project timelines and deadlines effectively

About You
- Proven experience at Senior/Lead level within retail, hospitality or brand-focused interior design
- Proficiency in Vectorworks, SketchUp and Cinema 4D
- A strategic, branding-led mindset when it comes to designing retail solutions
- Excellent communicator, confident and client-facing
- Experience working with notable brands
- Strong, proactive management and leadership abilities
- Adaptable, with an awareness of current industry trends
- Degree in Interior Design or equivalent
- Flexible and open to occasional international travel

Location & Team Setup
- Based in East London, with easy transport links
- In-studio Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
Please note: applicants must have the existing right to work in the UK.
