Design Manager

Location: Acton, London
Sector: Data Centres & Mission Critical Construction
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Package

The Opportunity

A leading specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join its Alliance Park project in Acton, West London. The 1.95-hectare site is being transformed to support the construction of two new hyperscale data centres together with an office building, substation and major associated infrastructure.

With demolition already completed and significant utility diversions, remediation and re-levelling forming part of the enabling strategy, this is a technically challenging project where design coordination and buildability will directly influence construction performance.

Role Overview

  • Lead design delivery from pre-construction through to completion
  • Ensure information is compliant, coordinated, buildable, and issued in line with procurement and construction requirements
  • Manage consultants, designers, and specialist subcontractors
  • Maintain the design programme and resolve interfaces before they become site issues
  • Lead design reviews, monitor approvals, and manage change control
  • Ensure Employer's Requirements, Contractor's Proposals, Building Regulations, and CDM obligations are properly addressed
  • Work closely with commercial, engineering, and delivery teams to identify value-engineering opportunities and reduce design-related risk and abortive work
  • Ensure approved information reaches the site team when required
  • Provide support on technical queries
  • Maintain oversight of as-built and O&M information
  • Build strong relationships with clients and consultants
  • Support Design Coordinators and Assistant Design Managers within the wider team

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
