Design Manager

Edinburgh | Tier 1 Main Contractor | Major City Centre Development

Exceptional opportunity to join one of the UK's most respected Tier 1 contractors on a landmark city centre project in Edinburgh. A leading Tier 1 building contractor is seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their highly successful team delivering a major high-profile development in the heart of Edinburgh. Renowned for delivering complex, high-quality projects across the UK, this organisation has built an outstanding reputation for quality, professional development, and staff retention.

Working alongside some of the industry's most experienced construction professionals, you will play a key role in managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring programme, quality, and technical requirements are achieved.

The Role

As Design Manager, you will:

  • Manage and coordinate the design process across all project stages
  • Work closely with consultants, architects, subcontractors, and site teams
  • Ensure design information is produced and delivered in line with programme requirements
  • Identify and resolve technical and design-related challenges
  • Review design proposals to ensure buildability, compliance, and commercial viability
  • Support project delivery teams throughout construction
  • Contribute to value engineering and risk management initiatives

What We're Looking For

Applications are welcomed from candidates with:

  • Previous experience in a Design Manager position within the construction sector
  • An Architectural Technology, Architectural, or related design background
  • Experience working on large-scale building projects
  • Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to coordinate multiple design disciplines and manage competing priorities
