Binnies, an RSK Group Company, is looking for a Design Manager to join us as part of our @one Alliance.

Job Title: Design Manager

Location: Hybrid - Peterborough (We ask candidates within the Anglian Water region to be in the office 3 days per week. If you are based outside the region, we’re happy to discuss a suitable hybrid arrangement.)

The Role

We’re looking for a Design Manager to lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team (15-20 people) delivering a £110m portfolio of wastewater treatment projects. Working across multiple catchments, you’ll drive solutions focused on phosphorus removal, storm overflow reduction, and enabling future growth—using a holistic, place-based approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design delivery across a portfolio of complex wastewater projects
  • Manage engineering plans covering scope, programme, cost, risk and resources
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver outcomes
  • Drive affordability, sustainability and low-carbon design solutions
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and champion health & safety
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team
  • Promote innovation, standardisation and digital engineering (e.g. 3D modelling)

About You

  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent); Chartered or working towards
  • Experience leading engineering teams and delivering design on capital projects
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and design responsibilities
  • Wastewater or utilities experience desirable
  • Strong leadership, collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement
