Job Description
Design Manager – Permanent opportunity
Location: Leeds
We are looking to appoint a Design Manager to support an established and rapidly growing operation.
The role will involve overseeing the building services design process on a variety of high profile and large-scale projects, along with assisting in mentoring and developing the team of engineers and technicians.
The Design Manager will ensure that all designs are completed to the highest standards by collaborating with internal and external multidisciplined teams and provide innovative and efficient solutions that meet client needs and regulatory standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Mechanical bias but must have sufficient general building services knowledge
- Act as client’s main point of contact through the design process
- Aid the development of the design programme and monitor performance of designers to ensure timely completion of deliverables
- Manage the design activities in line with the programme and ensure all scope changes are captured and communicated with the commercial team
- Ensure that designs comply with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Ensure that designs comply with contractual obligations
- Monitor and report design progress on a weekly basis
- Monitor & track status of request for information (RFIs)
- Monitor & track status of technical submittals and assist in their preparation
- Ensure all deadlines are met to the highest standard
- Liaise with personnel across the business

Skills and experience:
- A minimum of 8-10 years design experience within the Building Services industry
- Ideally have design experience in a wide range of sectors
- Qualified to HNC in Building Services Engineering
- Experience using REVIT/Navisworks is desirable but not essential
- Understanding of BIM protocols that are actively used throughout the organisation
- Confidence to lead and take a ‘hands on’ approach
- Excellent time management skills
- Flexible attitude to balance workloads and deadlines
- Applicants must hold a driving licence
