FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the water sector for an experienced Design Manager to strengthen their team at their Peterborough office, with hybrid working available.

Design Manager Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering design delivery across a diverse portfolio of water recycling and wastewater projects throughout the East of England.
- Develop, implement and manage Engineering Project Plans covering scope, programme, budget, risk management and resource allocation.
- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including Process, Mechanical, Electrical and Civil disciplines, to deliver high-quality design solutions.
- Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors and key stakeholders to ensure designs are effectively integrated and project objectives are achieved.
- Drive value engineering initiatives and deliver low-carbon, affordable and environmentally sustainable design solutions.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and promote a strong health & safety culture across all design activities.
- Lead, mentor and develop engineering teams to maximise performance, engagement and professional development.
- Champion innovation, continuous improvement and the implementation of digital engineering technologies, including 3D modelling.
- Work closely with delivery, procurement and construction teams to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Support the delivery of major infrastructure investment programmes that improve wastewater treatment performance and enhance environmental outcomes.

Design Manager Requirements
- Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards Chartership.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing design delivery on capital infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and design management responsibilities.
- Experience within the water, wastewater or wider infrastructure sector.
- Strong knowledge of programme management, project affordability and risk management.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to drive collaborative working and influence project outcomes across multiple disciplines.
- Passion for sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement.

Desirable
- Experience delivering projects within alliance or framework environments.
- Knowledge of digital engineering tools and 3D modelling technologies.
- Experience delivering large-scale water recycling or wastewater treatment projects.
- Understanding of carbon reduction initiatives and sustainable infrastructure delivery.
