PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Design Office Supervisor will provide technical guidance and operational leadership to the existing BIM Team overseeing the detailing of bespoke structural frames and high-specification architectural precast concrete solutions. The main objective is to lead the development of fully coordinated 3D models, fabrication drawings and schedules ensuring structural integrity, visual finish requirements, buildability and compliance with Eurocodes and project specifications.

REPORTING TO AND WORKING WITH:

The Design Office Supervisor will work under the supervision of the Design Manager. The role will involve working alongside Project Managers, Commercial Teams, Production Managers, Quality Assurance Personnel and External Clients or Engineering Consultants.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The role will involve overseeing design operations, mentoring a team of skilled BIM technicians and ensuring that all precast concrete project deliverables meet quality, schedule and safety standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct, mentor, and allocate work to a team of BIM technicians, supporting their professional development and managing day-to-day office output.
  • Review and approve precast concrete models and detailed production drawings to guarantee technical accuracy, compliance and structural integrity.
  • Schedule team workloads to align with project milestones, manufacturing deadlines and delivery timelines.
  • Serve as the primary link between the design office, manufacturing facilities and site management to resolve technical queries.
  • Maintain and elevate departmental BIM standards, drafting protocols and design software workflows.

WHAT DO FP MCCANN REQUIRE FROM YOU?

Essential:

  • In-depth experience in the design, detailing and technical requirements of precast concrete products.
  • Proven background in supervising, mentoring, or leading a team of BIM technicians in an office environment.
  • Thorough understanding of structural drafting principles, BIM workflows and industry standard procedures.
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to manage competing project priorities and communicate clearly across teams.

Desirable:

  • Proficiency or working knowledge of Tekla Structures BIM software.
  • Undergraduate Degree/Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline.

LOCATION:

Based at our Precast Office (16-18 Quarry Road, Knockloughrim, Magherafelt, BT45 8NR)
