Design & Software Engineer

Based North West

The range of machines have been developed through many years of technical experience and a deep understanding of the industry. The business is expanding its engineering team and are looking to appoint an experienced Design & Software Engineer to support its future growth plans. Reporting to the Electrical Manager you will be involved from design to installation of equipment working with customers across the UK and overseas. The role would suit an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working on bespoke machinery and seeing their designs and software brought to life in customer businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively implement electrical installations across customer sites and ensure correct documentation.
  • Spend time on-site with customers building strong working relationships to ensure end-to-end installations are smooth and efficient.
  • Effectively solve installation and engineering problems with diligence, ownership and creativity.
  • Develop strong and effective working relationships with cross functional colleagues within the business.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to members of the electrical installation team.
  • Lead installation testing process and document accordingly.
  • Create relevant machine technical manuals ensuring they are tailored to customer needs.
  • Act as a company ambassador, internally and externally, consistently living and breathing the culture and values.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Design & Software Engineer in the food industry.
  • HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of PLC programming (typically Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Siemens).
  • Solid experience of AutoCAD and engineering design principles.
  • Experience of robot, HMI and SCADA programming.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with both colleagues and customers.
  • Strong written skills and an ability to effectively translate often complex technical information for non-engineers.
  • Committed to delivering projects against defined timescales.
  • Motivated self-starter who is equally confident working independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to regularly travel to spend time on-site with customers in the UK and overseas as required.
  • Happy with a hybrid working arrangement to split time across customer on-site visits and at company’s North West HQ.
