The opportunity
Birchwell Associates is supporting a growing digital organisation in the search for a Design Systems Designer. This role will suit a designer who enjoys creating the foundations that help product teams deliver consistent, accessible experiences at scale.
You will partner with product designers, UI designers and frontend engineers to evolve shared components, tokens, documentation and governance across multiple products.
What you will be doing
- Design and maintain reusable components, patterns, tokens and shared foundations.
- Develop and govern Figma libraries, variables, documentation and contribution standards.
- Partner with frontend engineers to align design components with coded components.
- Improve accessibility, consistency and scalability across product experiences.
- Support adoption through guidance, workshops, critique and practical documentation.
- Measure system usage, identify gaps and prioritise the design-system roadmap.

What we are looking for
- Commercial experience in product, UI or design-system design.
- Strong Figma knowledge, including components, variants, variables and libraries.
- A portfolio demonstrating scalable component and system thinking.
- Good understanding of accessibility, responsive design and design tokens.
- Experience collaborating closely with frontend engineers, ideally around Storybook.
- Strong documentation, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.

- Salary between £60,000 and £75,000, depending on experience.
