Design Systems Lead - JP Morgan - London - 12 months - Onsite - PAYE

We are seeking an experienced Design Systems Lead to join Chase UK, JP Morgan's International Consumer Bank, within their Design and Customer Experience Team on an initial 12 month contract in London.

This is a hands-on design systems leadership role, combining high levels of design craft with systems thinking, problem-solving and stakeholder influence. You will help shape, evolve and champion the design system that supports Chase UK's digital banking experiences across customer touchpoints.

The Role

You will play a key role in driving design system excellence, ensuring that the experience across Chase's digital products is consistent, accessible, scalable and of a high design standard.

You will:

  • Drive the evolution and quality of the design system, balancing design craft, customer needs and business objectives.
  • Design and develop scalable solutions that can be applied across multiple digital products and customer touchpoints.
  • Work closely with Product Design, Research, Technology and business teams to resolve complex design and experience challenges.
  • Translate broader business and customer objectives into design system outcomes, priorities and deliverables.
  • Champion design system adoption across the wider organisation and build support with senior stakeholders and leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, evolve and innovate the design system based on insight, data, emerging technology and industry best practice.
  • Help establish and maintain consistency across native iOS and Android experiences and other digital touchpoints.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusive design principles are incorporated into the system, including practical application of WCAG 2.2 standards.
  • Create high-quality designs and prototypes using modern design tools, including Figma.
  • Support usability testing, iterative design and early-stage research where appropriate.
  • Communicate complex design system concepts clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders and disciplines.
  • Foster strong collaboration between designers and other disciplines, helping teams deliver high-quality customer experiences.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What Will Make You Stand Out

Experience within Financial Services or Fintech, particularly working on complex customer-facing digital products or banking applications, would be highly advantageous. We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate that they have not simply used an existing Design System, but have actively built, evolved, governed, advocated for and driven adoption of Design Systems across teams. You should be comfortable moving between hands-on design work and strategic systems thinking, understanding both the detail of individual components and the wider experience they enable.
