About The Role
This full-time position presents an outstanding opportunity for a qualified and passionate Design Technology Teacher to step into a thriving department immediately. The successful educator will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality, practical, and theoretical lessons across key stages. The role requires managing workshop environments, guiding students through material processing, product design, and digital technologies, and instilling a strong culture of health and safety. Key Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent recognised UK teaching qualification.
- Enhanced DBS: A valid Enhanced DBS clearance registered on the Update Service (or a willingness for one).
- Up-to-date knowledge of Health and Safety regulations relevant to design workshops and tool usage.
- Eligibility to Work: Valid legal entitlement to work full-time in the UK.
Key Skills
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in operating workshop machinery, hand tools, and fabrication equipment.
- CAD/CAM Skills: Command of computer-aided design software and automated manufacturing machinery.
- Curriculum Knowledge: Clear understanding of modern Design Technology specifications and examination requirements.
- Safety Leadership: Rigorous focus on workshop risk assessments, safety routines, and hazard mitigation.
- Differentiated Instruction: Ability to tailor complex practical tasks to suit varying student ability levels.
- Classroom Management: Strong leadership style to keep practical sessions focused, calm, and productive.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Design Technology lessons aligned with national curriculum guidelines.
- Teach both practical workshop skills and theoretical design concepts effectively.
- Maintain strict health and safety protocols across all workshops, machinery, and practical learning areas.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of individual students.
- Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and educational needs.
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations in Design Technology.
- Manage classroom behaviour constructively to maintain an ordered, safe, and productive environment.
- Maintain tools, machinery, and materials safely, coordinating with technical support staff where applicable.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, parents evenings, and professional development sessions.
- Act as a positive role model, fostering a passion for design, engineering, and creative problem-solving.
