Role Description

The Designated Safeguarding Lead Level 3 is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The role is responsible for leading and coordinating all safeguarding and child protection activities across LevelUp Circle’s youth programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, and organizational policies. Typical day-to-day tasks include responding to safeguarding concerns, maintaining accurate and confidential records, and acting as the main point of contact for local safeguarding partners, schools, and families. The Designated Safeguarding Lead will deliver and update safeguarding training for staff and volunteers, support risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety and wellbeing for all adolescents engaging with the platform. The role also includes reviewing policies and procedures, advising colleagues on best practice, and contributing to program design to ensure that activities and content prioritize learner safety and welfare.

  • Deriving & recommending safeguarding policies, code of conduct, and required documentation

Qualifications

  • Advanced safeguarding and child protection knowledge, including Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead training (or equivalent), with practical experience handling safeguarding concerns and referrals.
  • Experience working directly with adolescents or young people in educational, youth work, social care, or community settings, with a strong understanding of their developmental, emotional, and social needs.
  • Familiarity with UK safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and local authority procedures, including multi-agency working and information-sharing protocols.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, listen actively, handle sensitive information appropriately, and communicate clearly with young people, families, staff, and external partners.
  • Organizational and record-keeping skills to manage safeguarding logs, risk assessments, and documentation accurately, and to prioritize tasks in a busy, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to design and deliver safeguarding training or briefings to staff and volunteers, and to promote a proactive safeguarding culture across the organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to non-discriminatory practice in all aspects of safeguarding and youth engagement.
  • Relevant professional qualification or background (e.g., education, social work, youth work, psychology, or similar) is highly beneficial.
  • Enhanced DBS check
