Your new role

Designer to join an experienced and established design team. This is an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively across multiple departments, producing accurate and compliant design solutions for a varied portfolio of construction projects.

You will be responsible for delivering completed designs within agreed timescales and budgets, while ensuring materials are accurately quantified and scheduled in line with project programmes. The position would suit an organised and technically capable individual who has strong attention to detail and enjoys working within a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed design drawings and specifications in accordance with project requirements.
  • Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations, relevant national and international standards, the company's quality management system and recognised industry good practice.
  • Monitor design progress against project programmes, budgets and wider delivery requirements.
  • Quantify and schedule materials from architectural drawings and project information.
  • Prepare material specifications and assist with technical evaluations.
  • Identify and document design risks, supporting senior colleagues with appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Maintain accurate design records and correspondence, particularly where changes or events may affect project delivery.
  • Work closely with estimating, technical quality, fabrication, planning and operational teams.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Attend design, technical and project meetings as required.
  • Support the tender process by assisting with design budgets, programmes, drawings and technical reviews.
  • Contribute to design resource planning by maintaining accurate records of tasks, progress and workload.
  • Promote a right-first-time approach and support the timely, cost-effective delivery of design information.
  • Take ownership of health, safety, environmental, quality and CDM requirements within your area of responsibility.
  • Complete ongoing professional development and mandatory company training.

  • Able to read and interpret architectural drawings, schedules and specialist technical requirements.
  • Capable of quantifying and scheduling materials from drawings.
  • Able to work within established systems and technical guidelines.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities within programme and budget constraints.
  • Quick to absorb new information and develop technical knowledge.
  • A BTEC or HNC in Construction, Engineering, Design or a related discipline.
  • An AutoCAD qualification, such as City & Guilds, or equivalent practical experience.
