MarketYu is working with a growing creative agency in Birmingham to find a talented Middleweight Designer to join their team, collaborating with strategists, developers and account managers to deliver standout work for a diverse range of clients.
As Middleweight Designer, you will create thoughtful and well-crafted work across brand, digital and campaign projects. You'll work closely with the Creative Director to develop and deliver brand and digital assets, including visual identities, websites, campaign assets and other touchpoints. These assets often involve animation or video, so experience with motion software would be beneficial.
They're looking for someone with a strong portfolio who wants to keep raising the bar, develop their craft and contribute to the agency's creative output at every stage.
What You'll Need
- Minimum of 3-5 years' agency experience, with a strong portfolio showcasing design work across brand, web and campaigns. Evidence of your process and critical thinking behind your creative solutions is important.
- A sharp eye for design, helping maintain high standards of quality and consistency.
- Experience working alongside brand-led creatives and developers in a collaborative, studio-based environment.
- Comfortable taking part in internal crits, giving and receiving constructive feedback, and contributing to a positive team culture.
- Up to date with design trends, including AI tools and processes, and keen to keep learning.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain design ideas clearly to internal teams and clients.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma is essential. Experience with motion software and AI integrations is desirable but not essential.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Agency
This is an agency that treats its people as central to how it grows — the thinking being that a team that's genuinely supported does better work, and better work is what keeps clients around. They're after people who are driven and commercially minded, but who also want real ownership over their work rather than just ticking boxes.
The culture is deliberately open: regular, honest feedback in both directions, room to challenge how things are done, and a genuine effort to give people opportunities as the business expands. High standards matter here — this is a team that wants to be proud of what it puts out into the world.
Sound like your kind of place? We'd love to hear from you.
