Apparel Designer – Nightwear & Accessories
Location: Leigh, Manchester
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000
Job Type: Full-time
The Role
We are looking for a talented and commercially minded Apparel Designer to join an established and successful apparel business, in their nightwear and accessories division. This is a varied role combining design, product development and quality control.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of apparel design and garment construction, alongside excellent attention to detail and a passion for creating commercially successful products that meet the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new nightwear and accessory ranges in line with customer requirements, market trends, and commercial opportunities.
- Produce design packs, technical specifications, and artwork for new products.
- Work closely with suppliers and factories throughout the product development and sampling process.
- Review and comment on samples, ensuring products meet approved designs, specifications, and quality standards.
- Review samples, make fit and measurements amendments where necessary, and provide clear feedback to the factory.
- Ensure products are developed and manufactured in accordance with customer requirements and agreed quality standards.
- Work closely with internal Buying and Merchandising teams.
- Keep up to date with current fashion, color, print, and product trends within nightwear, loungwear, and accessories.
- Manage multiple projects and product developments simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.

Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within apparel design, product development, or a similar role.
- Good knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, trims, and manufacturing processes.
- Previous experience with garment quality control or technical product development.
- Strong understanding of fit, measurements, workmanship, and product specifications.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers and factories.
- Good understanding of the sampling and product development process.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to quality.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of what makes a product successful in the retail market.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple products and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop would be advantageous.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be creative, commercially aware, and highly detail-oriented, with the ability to combine design with a strong understanding of product quality. You will be confident working with suppliers, reviewing samples, and identifying opportunities to improve both the design and quality of products. You will also be comfortable managing multiple projects and working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience within nightwear, apparel, accessories, or a similar product category would be beneficial, although candidates with strong transferable experience will also be considered.
