Due to the continued expansion of our highly successful specialised engineering company, including our award-winning structured cabling and fibre, electrical, data centre design and build businesses, we have an exciting career opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Account Manager.

Sudlows work throughout the UK and have a growing portfolio of clients globally. We have over 200 staff and have achieved recent growth with ongoing expansion plans. The successful candidate will be a valued member of one of our most successful departments.

We are currently looking to grow our business – and this position will be based from head office in Manchester, and is a key role within the sales and business development team.

Role Purpose

Sudlows is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Desk-Based Account Manager to join our Sales & Commercial team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and developing an allocated portfolio of customers, building strong long-term relationships, and identifying opportunities to increase revenue and profitability across existing accounts.

Working closely with our Sales, Technical, Estimating and Operations teams, the Account Manager will act as a key point of contact for customers, ensuring opportunities are effectively managed from initial enquiry through to order and supporting the continued development of the customer relationship.

This is a commercially focused role suited to an individual who is proactive, highly organised, and confident in developing customer relationships through telephone, email, Teams and other digital channels.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management

  • Manage an allocated portfolio of existing customers and develop long-term commercial relationships.
  • Act as a key point of contact for customers, ensuring a professional, responsive and consistent service.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of customer requirements, business drivers and future project opportunities.
  • Maintain regular contact with key customer stakeholders.
  • Identify areas where Sudlows can provide additional services, solutions and expertise.
  • Proactively manage customer queries and ensure issues are addressed promptly.
  • Develop and maintain account plans for key customers.

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify, qualify and develop new opportunities within existing customer accounts.
  • Proactively generate sales opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound enquiries.
  • Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to quotation and order.
  • Work with the Estimating and Technical teams to develop accurate and commercially competitive proposals.
  • Follow up quotations and maintain momentum through the sales process.
  • Identify future projects, frameworks, tenders and procurement opportunities.
  • Develop opportunities across multiple customer stakeholders and departments.
  • Achieve agreed sales, margin and account-growth targets.
