Desktop Engineer
💰 £235/day (Inside IR35) 📍 London, UK (Fully onsite)
📅 6-Month Contract
Deliver exceptional IT support in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
Our client, a top global organization, is looking for a customer-focused Desktop Support Engineer to join a busy on-site IT support team in London. As a Desktop Support Engineer, you'll provide first and second-line deskside support, ensuring users receive prompt, professional, and effective technical assistance. You'll support Windows devices, mobile technology, meeting room equipment, onboarding activities, and IT service improvements while maintaining excellent customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first and second-line desktop support for Windows 10 and Windows 11 users.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and peripheral issues.
- Support laptops, desktops, mobile phones, iPads, printers, docking stations, and meeting room technology.
- Deliver face-to-face deskside support and staff IT support kiosks.
- Log, manage, and resolve incidents using ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.
- Assist with device builds, deployments, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
- Support desk moves, hardware refreshes, and end-of-life equipment disposal.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
- Collaborate with wider IT teams to identify service improvements and recurring issues.
- Provide occasional support across other office locations and participate in planned out-of-hours activities when required.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in Desktop Support or End User Computing (EUC) support.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting laptops, desktops, iPhones, Android devices, iPads, and IT peripherals.
- Experience supporting meeting room and AV technologies.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
- Good understanding of ITIL principles and service management.
- Ability to prioritise multiple incidents within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills
- Experience working in enterprise or financial services environments.
- Knowledge of Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms.
- Experience supporting trade floor users or executive/VIP users.
- Experience leading service improvement initiatives.
- Flexible approach to supporting multiple office locations.
