Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Desktop Engineer – VDI Skills to join its End User Experience (EUE) team, supporting a diverse portfolio of high-profile clients. This role is ideal for an experienced desktop engineering professional with strong Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) expertise who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering high-quality end-user support. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing assigned work within agreed timelines, supporting project delivery, and providing exceptional customer service while maintaining high technical standards.
What you will do
- Complete assigned work within allocated timeframes.
- Support internal and external Project Managers with project-related tasks.
- Perform NSR tasks within agreed timescales.
- Deliver high-quality desktop engineering support.
- Provide exceptional customer service and user support.
- Troubleshoot desktop hardware, software, and operating system issues.
- Support Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
- Assist with operating system deployment and application deployment activities.
- Monitor desktop environments and resolve technical issues.
- Contribute to desktop configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow IT service management processes and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and technical records.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience and subject matter expertise in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI); this is essential.
- Active SC Clearance is required; MOD SC Clearance is preferred.
- Sole UK National with no more than 28 days spent outside the UK during the past five years.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows operating systems, including Windows 10 and Windows 7.
- Knowledge of Windows build processes, configuration, and registry settings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with SCCM, including operating system deployment, application deployment, troubleshooting, monitoring, and reporting.
- Understanding of scripting technologies such as PowerShell, VBScript, and Batch files is beneficial.
- Knowledge of security technologies including BitLocker, NTFS permissions, and shared folder security is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Outlook, email client configuration, and collaboration tools such as Skype for Business.
- Working knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms, including ServiceNow.
- Strong customer service, communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced technical support environment.
