Desktop Support Technician

Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months)
Location: London, UK / On-site
Number of hours: 40 hours per week – full time

The Role

As a Desktop Support Technician, you will provide onsite technical support and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality services. The role involves performing support activities in line with agreed service levels and assisting in the diagnosis and resolution of network and compute-related incidents.

Key responsibilities:

  • Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot Windows, Mac and other authorised desktop software and applications.
  • Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot End User Workspace hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, video and conferencing equipment, and other authorised peripherals and devices.
  • Perform general preventative maintenance tasks on devices and software.
  • Follow and execute instructions provided by subject matter experts.
  • Assist users with logged IT-related incidents when called upon.
  • Take ownership of issues, carry out problem analysis, implement temporary or permanent fixes, and escalate incidents to other support teams where necessary.
  • Accurately record, update and document requests using the IT service desk system.
  • Maintain a first-class level of customer service and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues at all levels.
  • Create, maintain and publish relevant support documentation to support quick resolution of incidents and service requests.

Your Profile

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Good general understanding of IT principles, including networks, hardware and domains.
  • Working knowledge of leading software packages such as MS Office, Lotus Notes and MS Outlook.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, related software and applications.
  • Experience in End User device hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting printers and meeting room equipment.
  • Experience building, configuring, replacing and troubleshooting EUC hardware components.
  • Familiarity with virtual, MDM and VPN environments, with basic knowledge of Network and Compute devices.
  • Exceptional customer-facing and communication skills, with a logical, analytical approach and accurate record keeping.

Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:

  • CompTIA A+ or MCP/MCSE certification; OEM certification; knowledge of ITIL and experience working within an ITIL environment.
