Summary And Purpose
Life Kitchens are seeking to recruit a Despatch Lead Operator for their manufacturing site in Newton Aycliffe. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient handling of goods entering and leaving the facility, ensuring processes are followed. This includes unloading incoming deliveries, preparing outgoing deliveries, and ensuring all goods are processed accurately and in line with company procedures.
It will be your role to ensure OTIF targets are met, as well as having a focus on continuous improvement and 5S methodology.
Main Responsibilities
Goods Inward:
- Receive and unload incoming deliveries from vehicles.
- Check goods against delivery notes for accuracy and damage.
- Record and report discrepancies or damaged items.
- Move goods to appropriate storage areas using manual handling or equipment (e.g., forklifts).

Despatch:
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment.
- Load outgoing goods onto vehicles safely and securely.
- Ensure correct documentation is completed for all dispatched items.
- Coordinate with transport teams and drivers to ensure timely departures.
General Duties:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised warehouse area.
- Follow all health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Operate warehouse equipment safely and responsibly.
- Assist with stock checks and inventory control when required.
- Work closely with the supervisors and wider teams.
- Ensure processes are followed.
Skills & Requirements
- Previous experience in warehouse/logistics environment is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of stock control and documentation.
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Physical fitness for manual handling tasks.

- Standard hours are 07:30-15:30, but flexibility is required around these.
