If you’re looking for a career in the food industry, we are one of Europe’s leading food processing companies. We are currently seeking Despatch Operatives to join our dedicated team at our Highland Meats site in Saltcoats.

As a Despatch Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and efficient preparation and despatch of goods in a fast-paced production environment. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic team within a well-established company that values quality, safety, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for despatch according to customer specifications.
  • Decanting, stock rotation, scanning, and labelling of goods.
  • Ensure all goods are correctly labelled and documented.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate records of despatched items using warehouse management systems.
  • Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies before despatch.
  • Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) — training will be provided to ensure full compliance.
  • Maintain a fast-paced working environment in line with production demands.
  • Work collaboratively with the manager and team to achieve departmental targets.
  • Promote and maintain Health, Safety, and Hygiene standards in accordance with company rules and regulations.
  • Liaise with couriers and transport teams to coordinate deliveries.
  • Keep the despatch area clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with stock control and inventory checks as required.
  • Report any issues or delays to the Despatch Supervisor promptly.

  • Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment (desirable).
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Basic IT skills for data entry and record-keeping.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Forklift licence (desirable but not essential).

Shift pattern:

  • Monday – Friday
  • 9am – 5.40pm

Starting rate:

  • £12.71 per hour
  • Weekly paid
