Job: Despatch Operative

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply legal norms and Group policy in matters relating to Quality, Security and Environment
  • Three roles which the drivers cover on a daily rotation:
    • Marshaller (takes product from Finished Goods Line and scans into stock using Carpal and to cover pallet man during tea breaks)
    • Pallet Operative (Supplies pallet and topboards to FGL or machines, unloads pallet/topboard deliveries from suppliers and customers, load any returns and assists Marshaller and cover during tea breaks)
    • Loader (load deliveries to customers)
  • Carry out daily pre shift checks on Fork Lift Trucks and fill in log sheet at start of each shift
  • Fill in Defect Report if any faults are found with FLT’s and pass to Team Leader
  • Complete Behavioural Safety Observations when appropriate, reporting incidents, accidents, property damage and near misses
  • Report any equipment breakdowns (Rollers and roller doors) to the Team Leader
  • Ensure product, pallets and topboards are stored and stacked correctly and safely
  • Ensure all gangways, doors, fire exits and firefighting equipment are accessible at all times
  • Inform Team Leader of any issues with product coming from production (presentation, palletisation and labels)
  • To rotate stock in correct order (Product, pallets and topboards)
  • Ensure accuracy of scanning data with in Carpal (correct number of pallets on trailer, in the storage bays etc.)
  • Ensure transporting of loads is done safely and in the correct manner (as in S/S/O/W) and ensure that any delivery leaving the site is loaded safely
  • When loading ensuring it is the correct vehicle and it is clean and fit for purpose, check vehicle is loaded in the correct sequence for delivery and all deliveries are loaded to tolerance wherever possible
  • To support Team leaders by ensuring that all contractors in the loading area are following the contractors procedures
  • To carry out any reasonable request within the needs of the department and to support other departments within the plant as and when required

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience working as a Fork Truck Driver or in a similar working environment is desirable
  • PC Literate and understanding of Microsoft Office would be advantageous
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication
  • Able to organise and prioritise work load in order to meet tight deadlines and the ability to work under pressure
  • The successful candidates will have experience of working in a busy and fast paced moving environment and have drive and determination to succeed
