Job Purpose
To work as part of a team within the despatch department to ensure the timely supply of materials to production and finished goods to the customer.
The ability to communicate clearly and present information is key whilst also being able to judge situations accurately and make sound operational decisions.
Key Accountabilities
- To ensure that finished product and stock items are dispatched to customers within the timescales allocated
- Support all production facilities by keeping them supplied with the necessary materials in order for them to execute the operating plan
- Coordinating deliveries and managing the call off system to ensure all finished goods are reported correctly and adherence is achieved
- Working closely with production, stock controllers and the planner to ensure that OTIF is achieved. This in turn ensures any issues are communicated in advance to the relevant personnel to allow for appropriate decisions to be made
- Responsible for booking delivery vans and couriers, readying consignments for despatch and ensuring all appropriate documentation for domestic and international shipments is in order. Also ensuring compliance with weight restrictions and customer delivery requirements
- Reporting and managing documentation including hard and electronic records
- Liaising with customers and booking of all deliveries, working as the first point of contact for all customer and internal shipment queries
- Maintaining consumables at the appropriate level to meet production demand
- Monthly consumables stock take
- Occasionally support Finishing department with duties during busy periods
- Stock checking and cycle counting as and when required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve performance in the key aspects of manufacturing performance, customer service and quality
- Ensure compliance with H&S best practice in line with Company policy and current legislation

- Ability to plan and organise
- People management skills / experience
- Communication skills
- Awareness of H&S best practice
- Counterbalance license is preferable however, training will be delivered
- Ability to work within a team
- IT skills using Microsoft office packages to intermediate / advanced level
- As this role involves liaising with internal departments, and at times suppliers, it is vital that the jobholder is able to communicate in a professional and courteous manner
