Location: Verwood, Dorset
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £26,364 per annum
Hours: 39 hours per week, Days
Monday - Thursday: 7.30am - 4.30pm
Friday: 7.30am - 12.30pm

We are recruiting for a Despatch Packing Assistant to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer based in Verwood, Dorset. This is a varied, hands-on role supporting a busy despatch department, preparing high-quality precision engineered components for shipment to customers and subcontractors. A key part of the position will also involve accurately marking components for traceability purposes. Previous experience is not essential as full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is reliable, organised and has excellent attention to detail.

The Role

As a Despatch Packing Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring finished components are correctly identified, packed and prepared for shipment.

Your duties will include:

  • Packing and preparing precision components for shipment to customers and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring components are packaged safely and securely to prevent damage during transportation.
  • Assisting with the organisation and preparation of outgoing deliveries.
  • Carrying out accurate part marking for identification and traceability.
  • Using a variety of marking methods including ink, vibro and dot peen equipment.
  • Checking part numbers and specifications carefully before marking components.
  • Recording and organising stock within the department.
  • Monitoring packaging materials and other consumable stock levels.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment.
  • Supporting other areas of the business when required.

Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering, warehouse, stores, packing or despatch would be advantageous but is not essential. Experience with component marking, labelling or handling precision parts would also be beneficial, although full training will be provided.
