Job Opportunity: Despatch Team Leader

We are currently recruiting for a Despatch Team Leader working on our backshift at our potato packing site in Boston, Lincolnshire.

Shift & Hours of Work

  • Sunday to Thursday - Fixed Shift, working 18:00hrs to 02:15hrs

Salary

  • £14.49 per hour (plus 50p per hour backshift premium)

Responsibilities

  • Manage workload of the despatch team on the relevant shift to ensure skills are spread correctly to ensure all aspects of the despatch operation run efficiently
  • Liaise with the Despatch Manager and Production Manager/Shift Leader/Manager as required to ensure any other tasks are covered such as loading/unloading of equipment
  • Ensure loads are built and despatched correctly by managing staff in the department
  • Check paperwork to ensure all loads are despatched accurately
  • Ensure all loads are labelled correctly and are despatched with the correct paperwork
  • Highlight training and resource needs within the team to your Manager and Production management teams
  • Communicate issues with loading to the Supply Chain
  • Communicate with production team on shortages and production plans to enable an efficient despatch operation
  • Ensure a clean working environment at all times within the dept
  • Be proficient to take the delivery notes in accordance with the relevant SO
  • Create and agree load plans with external hauliers to ensure product is despatched in a timely manner
  • Liaise with hauliers to ensure loads are despatched as required

  • Valid Forklift Truck License is required
  • Previous experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing setting is preferred
  • Ability to lead, motivate and organise a team
  • Good communication skills and collaborative approach
  • Physical fitness and capability to handle lifting and moving heavy items
  • Commitment to following safety standards and procedures at all times
