We welcome applications from substantive Inspectors for the role of Detective Inspector within the Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU).
The Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU) forms part of a national infrastructure designed to collect, assess, develop, protect, safeguard and disseminate sensitive intelligence or material relating to Serious Organised Crime or high risk criminality. This intelligence supports operational decision-making and helps identify opportunities for enforcement activity.
As the Intelligence Manager, you will:
- Lead a team of intelligence professionals, ensuring that information from multiple sources is accurately evaluated, prioritised and transformed into actionable intelligence that supports operational decision-making.
- Manage risk; identify emerging threats and opportunities; direct intelligence activity; maintain compliance with legal and ethical frameworks; brief senior leaders on complex issues.
- Continue to maintain the SIU’s strong reputation by building and sustaining effective relationships with national partners. Through these partnerships, you will help instil confidence in the SEROCU SIU as a centre of excellence, ensuring that South-East policing remains at the forefront of technological and intelligence capabilities.

Travel Requirements:
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the South East region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.
On Call Function:
As part of the role you will be required to form part of an on call function – however, the expectation of this differs significantly from other on call functions. Therefore, if unsure please seek further information via Recruitment SE and/or attend the Q&A session.

Security Requirements:
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

- Kent Officers will need to inform Kent HR Resource Planning at the earliest opportunity of intention to apply. Every Officer application form must be signed by the Chief Supt or police staff equivalent and sent to Kent HR Resource Planning no later than 5 working days prior to closing date unless exceptional circumstances apply. This is required so that Chief Officer approval can be obtained for the application to progress, which will be managed by Kent HR Resource Planning.
